Sunday it is church day

jayt1122

I made it into Campbell, Missouri today. It was a short day of 12 miles.

I attended church at Shady Grove Baptist. I thought the service started at 10:30 a.m. As I was in the front, pastor Robert showed up. He asked if I needed to use the facilities. I told him I was there for service. It started at 11.

We talked about what and why I was walking. He told me that I could put my cart behind the church under an overhang. It would be safe there.

During the service, Robert introduced me to the congregation and asked me to give my testimony of my walk. Unexpected, but I did.

At the end of the service, the whole congregation said a prayer for my safety. As I was packing up my cart several people came out to ask questions and wish me well. One wonderful woman came out and handed me $40.

As I was walking toward Campbell, Breana and Roseann had driven by me and made a u-turn. They gave me water and a Gatorade.

The walk was very nice. There was a lot cotton and soy fields. There was not a lot of traffic.

I had another stray dog follow me for awhile. Cute dog, but it finally turned around and went home.

I may adjust my walk tomorrow and head for Marston. It will be a 32 mile walk. My knees and back feel great after the chiropractor treatment. Again, thank you Pam.

I have recently retired after 30 years in law enforcement and a few years in the private sector. I have always enjoyed walking form place to place.  One of my favorite assignments was working overtime in our tourist area.  It was a blast to walk around for about 7 hours throughout the Downtown area.

In 2016, I read a book, "Wild at Heart" by John Eldredge.  In November of 2016, I decided to do my "walkabout" with God from Santa Cruz to Los Angeles.  I had a blast walking along the Pacific Coast.  It was a beautiful experience.  I learned so many things on this walk.  The main lesson was God was talking to me, I just was not listening.  He was there with me on my walk, I just was not realizing the signs.

I have always been intrigued about walking the PCT, AFT, the Continental Divide and Appalachian Trial.  The one trip that stuck out with me was walking across the United States.
